The Blue Bike

The Blue Bike PhotoI’ve been coming to the Forest Bus since I can first remember when I used to come with my mum as a little boy. Since then, I’ve enjoyed a lot of good times at the Forest Bus – from after school groups, play - schemes to festivals over the years. Although there was always a lot to – games, art and crafts, sports and generally just meeting your mates - when the bus used to come in the fine weather, and we could play outside, most of my time was spent over the blue bike - the wobbly old bike that goes up and down and has been everywhere. I remember, when every child used to argue over riding on it, and the staff would help us sort it out so we all had a turn. I can remember going up and down the village green on it and having races with the others on their scooters on it. Just like everyone thinks the Forest Bus belongs to them, everyone always said it was their bike and it’s even caused a few arguments over the years, as well as fun! Now I’m a volunteer youth worker, and I find myself helping other children and young people to have fun. The bike is still going on today and I’m pleased to say it’s still giving enjoyment too –along with the bus! Thank you to all the staff who have helped me enjoy some very positive childhood experiences.
