Forest Bus have helped set up and run various youth and after school groups over the years. We have worked with young people in many areas around the New Forest, Hampshire and Dorset areas- currently we reach over 300 children, young people and their families a week.
One of our aims is to help local people set up new organizations where they are needed. Forest Bus help initially by working alongside local people to help them set up their own organization and support them until they are able to manage on their own. Forest Bus provide ongoing assistance and advice as and when required.
So far over the years we run and helped set up these youth clubs in the following areas...
Milford On Sea Youth Club 2001 - 2010
We began working in Milford initially by taking the bus onto the village green and by offering youth work to the many young people who experienced social isolation and who were unable to access other activities due to lack of transport etc. In 2005 we were asked by the Parish Council to work with them to set up their own building - by providing trained staff and resources and acquiring funding for equipment for the group, we ran youth sessions in the temporary building. Then in 2010, the group acquired the finding for their own building. The youth group now meet in this building which is now run by the Parish council.
Calshot youth group - 2000 - 2011
We have had a long involvement in Calshot, having delivered after school, early years work and youth groups in the community for over 11 years. During this time, we provided trained staff, resources and equipment and facilitated youth work in the hall and also on the lorry. In 2011, the community approached us as they had set up a new committee, and we helped them by organizing their policies and procedures, applying for funding and supporting them to deliver their own youth and after school groups.
Other groups include Sway Youth Club 2003 - 2008,
Marchwood Youth Club 2004 - 2010
